College life this week :Google was banned from the college for a day when if was decided that students had used the search engine to source unsuitable images and content from the web. This was soon sorted when Bernie Link explained the need for google in the classroom. The banning of google had a huge effect on students as they I for one used it to monitor placements on selected sites on the web. The daily checking of listings kept me up to date with the effords of others to maintain top placement in google. Last year, Yahoo bought the AltaVista, Fast, and Inktomi search engines, now I hear that yahoo have left google and replaced it with their own search engine. Good news for us as a dropped place in google will not effect your yahoo placings. Now the market is open and the competition for best search engine begins. I look forward to seeing vast inprovements in both search engines with us the consumers benefiting from this.
